Wanna know why you laugh in the cremation grounds...in the SHMASHAN? Because you see what a joke all the attachment to everything is. After a short time of looking with the intent to See, you can't help but laugh and laugh and laugh on end. You see the whole world is just made up of dry twigs that are used to burn that which we hold most dear.
There is one attachment that is stronger even than the attachment to your body—the attachment to your "individuality", or rather the false concept of your "individuality". That "individuality" is a mental concept and its reflection in the physical is "your" body. I say "your" because millions upon millions of other sentient beings live in it as well, and it doesn't belong to you at all. Nothing here belongs to "you". Not "your"body, "your" house(s), "your" cars, "your" land, "your" possessions, "your" parents, "your" children, "your" friends, "your" enemies, "your" partner(s)/lover(s)/spouse(s), "your" thoughts, "your" life, even "your" very breath. There is no "you" for any of it to belong to. There is only the One Who it All belongs to.
But still we go around acting as if the opposite is true. Yes, we all mentally understand the above statement, but we really don't embrace it fully. Truthfully, we don't really embrace it much at all. Instead, we cling to the illusion that is completely opposite of this. We live our lives trying to support and enhance the ridiculous concept of our "individuality".
Our fate is already set. That fate is EXACTLY the same for everyone. There is no getting out of it. There is no use in denying it. The best thing you can do is embrace it fully, to your core...because NO ONE HERE GETS OUT ALIVE. HAHAHA! Well except the ONE that is ALL that is HERE, the only "ONE" Truly Alive For All Time and Beyond Time.
Now that is some funny shit if you ask me.

That which is night for all sentient beings is the bright daylight of wakefulness for those who focus on controlling their senses and directing them within.
That which inspires wakefulness to all beings is like the dark night to the introspective Sage who sees Within.
Bhagavad Gita Chapter 2, Verse 69.
One of my favorite verses and I tweaked the translation.
What is night, or the time of sleep and inactivity, to all who direct their life's energy to sense gratification, is when the Yogi engages in activity that is the opposite of this. Not only is this the tranquil time that the one who engages in the practice of Samyam, but what it also implies that what is of no interest to the normal worldly person is what is of absolute interest to the one seeking to merge with GODDESS/GOD. Sam meaning tranquil inner equilibrium and Yam meaning control or binding or a covering/corral. Patanjali uses this term repeatedly in the Yoga Sutras in the Samādhi Pāda. Combined simultaneous practice of Dhāraṇā (concentration), Dhyāna (one-pointedly focused meditation) & Samādhi (a state where there is no longer subject and object but all is joined in tranquility and inner equilibrium). It is an integration of the fully absorbed state into various aspects of the material realms, which include the subtle and causal. It is a tool through which the Yogi acquires specific knowledge of various things and their qualities.
What is day to a worldly person and of interest to that type of person is absolutely of NO interest to the one who only wants to dissolve into the SUPREME.
Certainly this applies to the best time and way to meditate in the cremation grounds—in the MAHA SMASHAN!

So what to do then? What is our "individual" "life" for? We are all interconnected limbs of the ONE, so use what ever breaths you are given down here to help the Greater Good of All Sentient Beings, as much as you possibly can. This is the only way to really find Peace and Happiness. And since that may be way too bold of a statement to embrace easily, use as many of your breaths as possible to help those obviously suffering in the myriad of ways that are possible. Physically suffering through impoverishment, lack of even the necessities to maintain the body in a way that allows focus on doing much else besides suffering, health problems, mental illness, abuse, slavery, etc., those mentally and emotionally suffering in the various ways possible, and those Spiritually suffering.
When we let go of that which was never ours to begin with, we will realize Everything, which is the totality of who we are!
This is what my Guru, AMMA Amritanandamayi, shows us by example each and every moment of each and every day of HER Life.
And that is one more reason why I can't write HER Name as "Amma", because it just isn't enough to describe who SHE IS! There are many "Ammas" worthy of a capital "A" in front of Their Names, but there is only One AMMA!
